TOP 5 BEACHES TO VISIT IN DUBAI

The Beach at JBR

The Beach at JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residences) is a family friendly beach, easily accessible from anywhere in Dubai and with a huge range of activities on offer, this is our favourite beach. With an abundance of beachside eateries, shopping, an array of watersports and rides it’s easy to lose a whole day down there and not feel like you wasted it. If that’s not enough, how about heading over to AquaFun Waterpark, rated as the world’s largest inflatable water park on one of Dubai’s top 5 attractions. There are over 75 inflatable obstacles 25 meters out into the sea making it a truly unique experience. Still want more? Take advantage of the outdoor gym, beach volleyball court, outdoor yoga class or the 600m running track. The Beach at JBR really has got it all.

Sunset Beach

Also known as Umm Suqeim beach, this stretch of coast sits with the Burj Al Arab as its backdrop making it the perfect spot to get a selfie with the world’s tallest building. One of the more peaceful beaches it’s excellent for a stroll anytime of the day or night. Lined with smart palms and poles that automatically light up when the sun sets, the beach invites night swimming and has lifeguards operating around the clock . The beach is also located on the edge of Umm Suqeim park, open to just women and children through the week but everyone at the weekend the park boasts gorgeous green gardens, a café and a small beach.

Kite Beach

If activities are your thing, Kite Beach is your spot. You’ll find all the watersports your heart desires, from kitesurfing and wakeboarding to stand-up paddle boarding you can hire all the equipment you need right there on the beach to flaunt your skills. Located just off Jumeirah’s main street the beach has plenty on offer for those preferring to keep their feet dry as well. A 14km track for a walk or a jog, beach volleyball courts, food trucks for casual bites or if you’d prefer, just sit back on the beach, soak up the sun and watch the adventurous take to the water.

La Mer

Dubai’s latest beachside spot is packed full of colourful shower cabins, exquisite restaurants and cafes, shopping boutiques and even an outdoor trampoline park for the kids. There are plenty of activities on offer year round with a little something for everyone with the boutique Roxy Cinema, Hawa Hawa Trampoline Park, Laguna Water Park or simply lazing on a sun lounger, more is better, and La Mer definitely has more all within the serene setting of a purposefully developed beach resort.

Black Palace Beach

Last but not least, a hidden gem. Also known as Palace Beach, Al Sofouh Beach or simply, The Secret Beach you’ll find no restaurants, lockers, sun loungers or surfboard, just 2 and a half kilometres of secluded sand between the royal palaces. Accessible via a narrow sandy pathway the beach tends to be a little quieter out of season, although at weekends its secret appeal certainly pulls a crowd. This in part owing to its incredible views of Palm Jumeirah, the hotels of Madinat Jumeirah and in the evening the most spectacular panoramic sunset in all of Dubai.

Some rules to remember about the beaches of Dubai: Clothing is not that dissimilar from that of Spain or Italy, but you shouldn’t walk or lie topless or naked on the beaches. Photography of people, women in particular, is forbidden. It is forbidden to swim in the sea at night. Beachwear is only permitted for the beach.
